"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God." ~ 1 Corinthians 2:12

The Spirit is the being and nature of God within us. And not only is that a powerful thought to consider, but an amazing reality to live into. Receiving help is not only about getting our prayers answered, going to Heaven when we die, or receiving help to squeeze out of a tight financial situation, it’s better than all that in a relational sort of way.

The scripture says that to know God is to have and experience eternal life right in our daily lives. In other words, it’s like Heaven on earth! I don’t relate to God as distant, aloof, or simply the creator of all things as an experiment to see what we will do. We see in the scriptures, and in nature (the first scripture), that the creator is close, available and intricately woven into the fabric of all being.

Jesus examples for all humans how to be alive with God and helped in a major way by the Spirit’s indwelling and everlasting presence. God became human and thereby forever gives dignity and worth to the human condition and becomes one with us. We relate to one another. God is alive with me and I am alive with God.

To receive this as your identity and unfolding reality is to receive all the help that the Spirit is readily present to pour into your life. Receiving the help is to receive the Helper, the very same One that gave Christ the ultimate help by raising Him up and out of death once as all. And that is the degree of help we are beginning to understand has been given to us by the Spirit.

Receive the reality that you have been helped in a major way today!

Prayer

Helper! Holy! Spirit! Divine! Help me think about this and let my imagination take me to thoughts with you that glue us together as one. Help me receive more of this in my life as my current reality from which I do the vocation you have given me. Let my mind be illuminated to receive all the help you want to give me. Let it be done, and let it be so. Amen.
