House Church Folk,

I wanted to give you plenty of time to prepare for this Sunday, the 31st: Pop-Up Fall Festival Church!

If you were part of last year’s festival at Chandler Park, where 400 of our best friends surprised us at what we thought would be a medium-sized church gathering, don’t worry! This...is not that! :)  But that day did give us all something to remember. And we met new friends. Remember how we couldn’t give everything away fast enough! It was a blessing, and something we will never forget.

This Sunday, however, will be at Hank & Eve’s place. They have a big yard, plenty of parking space, and lots of area for kids to run around. We will start at 11:00 with service, and proceed to lunch and festivities from there.

Costumes are encouraged! Decorating your car for Trunk or Treat is encouraged! There will be a raffle, prizes for costumes and trunks, games, and all the fun things.

Church will provide pizza for lunch. You can bring a dessert and/or drink to share. I think someone is going to do face painting, there might be a bonfire going with smores. Bring a bag of candy. If you want to bring your own lunch, feel free to do that!

This is a casual, easy, family gathering in a beautiful space with great people on what appears (if the forecast holds) to be an awesome fall day!

If all the halloween stuff doesn’t interest you, no worries! Bring yourself and a chair, and just chill in good company for a few hours.

We will be outside, so bring everything you need to be comfortable - bring a chair or blanket...and a friend or two. Address below.

House Church has the neatest families and singles, and kids and couples of all kinds and types. In the church there is to be an ethos of harmony, humility and above all love - not only to siblings in the faith but to “outsiders” and “enemies” as well. It’s a marvelous collection of people developing in matters of faith, hope, Spirit, and love. I’ve never experienced anything quite like our particular community that is diverse, open and so genuinely friendly - I am here for this! And I say YES over and over again. I serve to witness, steward and support the full expression of each individual within this body as we grow together.

If you haven’t been around in a while, shoot me a text or give me a call! I’d love to catch up with you and hear what’s going on in your life. Or let’s plan to sit on a patio or next to the fireplace somewhere together.

P.S. Here is a special prayer for you to say in the morning as you arise each day. Try every day until we meet this Sunday and see if it makes a difference for you.

St. Patrick of Ireland (fifth century)
The Prayer of Saint Patrick (portions of it..)

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth and His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion and His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection and His ascension.

I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of the sun,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the sea,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.

I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me;
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save me
From snares of the devil,
From temptations of vices,
From every one who desires me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a multitude.

I summon today all these powers between me and evil,
Against every cruel merciless power that opposes my body and soul,
Christ shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.
